Thieves steal computer equipment

Thieves who raided a business unit near Gatwick Airport got away with £170,000 worth of computer and medical equipment - but their haul could prove useless to them.

The intruders also caused around £3,000 worth of damage when they broke into the DHL depot in Lowfield Way, Lowfield Heath, in the early hours of Thursday, March 26. It is believed they may have used a low loader vehicle to move the boxes of equipment.

However, the thieves could have problems finding a market for their ill-gotten gains. DC David Slade from Gatwick Police said: "The stolen computers are customised specifically for the medical field and the medical equipment, which is used for live-saving treatment for cancer patients, will only work with other specialised equipment."
