Man shot dead by Sussex Police

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is independently investigating the fatal shooting of a man by police in Sussex on Friday (8 May).
A woman apparaently called police to report that there was a man with a gun on Ash Grove in Fernhurst. A short time later, firearms officers were deployed to the scene when the man, who is believed to be in his 60s, was fatally shot by police.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. IPCC Commissioner Mike Franklin said: “IPCC investigators are currently at the scene, carrying out enquiries to establish exactly what happened in this case. We will be looking at the actions and decision-making of the firearms officers involved and the command and control of the whole incident.”
The man has not yet been formally identified.
